Brighter Day

from Brighter Day by Caroline Ferrante

/

about

I wrote this single to celebrate the courage of assault and abuse survivors who speak out. It is the musical finale of Carol Campbell's "Goddess Diaries", premiered at George Mason University November, 2016.

lyrics

Speak up, Speak out
Speak up, Speak out
For a brighter day

Tears we cry
Will become stones in time
Make a road
To lead us home

Think you are through
Nothing in you
Might as well be dead
Start with a step
Breath after breath
See the light ahead
Tied up in doubt
Got to break out
You can weather the storm inside of you

Tears we cry
Will become stones in time
Make a road
To lead us home
Just one way
For a brighter day
Take a stand
You are not alone

Secrets you keep
Stealing your sleep
The words got into you
Hide them away
Give up and say
There's nothing you can do
Break past the wall
Find out that all cannot be silenced

Speak up, Speak out
Speak up, Speak out
For a brighter day

Tears we cry
Will become stones in time
Make a road
To lead us home
Just one way
For a brighter day
Take a stand
You are not alone
You are not alone
You are not alone
